Earlier this summer, Indigenous leaders from the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation (MCFN) addressed the administration of various major Canadian universities, including Guelph, York, McMaster, University of Toronto, Waterloo and Toronto Metropolitan.
Grounded in the Peace and Friendship Treaties and the Seven Sacred Teachings, the letters expressed solidarity with the Jewish community, reinforcing that hatred and exclusion have no place on Indigenous Treaty lands.
It also demanded that universities take immediate and decisive action to foster an environment of peace, harmony, and safety, such that no Jewish student, staff, nor faculty shall have to endure the levels of institutional bigotry we witnessed last year once again.
Allied Voices for Israel (AVI) is proud to work our friends in the MCFN and amplify this important campaign. To learn more, please click here.

We are also proud to share a recent statement by Grand Chief Lynda Prince, envoy of Indigenous Embassy Jerusalem (IEJ) and a proud Indigenous ally, on the state of antisemitism in Canada.
“As the original inhabitants of this land, we, the First Nations peoples, have welcomed the Jewish people into our lands and territories and like everyone else in this country they deserve to be protected,” Prince said in her statement, which was published in the National Post.
Prince was formerly a First Nation Chief in British Columbia and was recently appointed an IEJ envoy. The IEJ says it is a platform for Indigenous nations to express their solidarity with Israel and the Jewish people.
Prince called on the Canadian government at all levels to combat antisemitism and bigotry against the Jewish State. “Israel is our democratic ally and a country that blesses all its citizens with civil rights and freedoms,” Prince said.
Meanwhile, she said the IEJ urges learning institutions to provide education about “Jewish indigeneity, Jewish history and Jewish contributions to our country.”
“We must be upstanders and not bystanders,” she said. Please click here to read Prince's full statement.

Last week, AVI partnered with Emet Talks and EndJewHatred Canada for Creators In Conversation: Finding Your Voice in Toronto.
Moderated by Toronto’s very own Shai Deluca, with knowledgable Israel Advocates and Online Creators Amy Albertson, Matthew Nouriel, and Debbie Lechtman (@rootsmetals), it was an evening filled with insights and actionable takeaways.
The panel discussed the tools, facts, and methods necessary to counter uncomfortable conversations in everyday life, as we gained a small glimpse into the everyday life of an online Israel Advocate.

On Tuesday, Sept 24 at 8pm ET, AVI will host the third session in our Wartime Briefings: 11 Months Later series. This emergency workshop, The Nuances of Language, will provide critical skills in how to navigate the current war and the Arab-Israeli conflict more broadly.
When engaging in discourse, it is important to establish operational definitions so all parties can discuss the topic on an equal playing field. The language you choose to use has many implications in conversations about the Arab-Israeli conflict. This presentation integrates psychological concepts to explore these implications, equipping participants to engage in varied environments.

In Canadian campus news, AVI is pleased to share that the Students’ Society of McGill University (SSMU) officially removed Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights (SPHR) as a club at McGill.
Earlier this year, McGill’s Deputy Provost (Student Life and Learning) Angela Campbell sent the SSMU executives a notice of default regarding their Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). Campbell requested that the SSMU:
Sever its relationship with SPHR, at a minimum by removing SPHR’s status as a SSMU club and ceasing any funding to this group; and
Publicly communicate this decision to its membership.
The club has not been recognized by the student body since earlier in September. It had called the October 7th attacks “heroic,” staged an illegal encampment on campus, and has a history of doxxing and bullying students.

The IDSF provides unwavering advocacy for Israel's national security interests, promoting strong national security priorities and staunch Zionism to ensure that Israel remains the eternal homeland of the Jewish people.
Common Ground Ambassador and McGill University student Eva Mamane is our #AmbassadorSpotlight
Meet our #AmbassadorSpotlight Eva Mamane, one of our amazing Common Ground Ambassadors, who is currently studying Anatomy and Cell Biology at McGill University!
“I decided to join Common Ground for the opportunity to connect with like-minded people in the support and solidarity of my country and my people," says Eva.
“This program allowed me to forge strong connections with fellow allies for Israel from diverse backgrounds and learn from others about effectively combatting antisemitism on campus. I was also fortunate to be able to get a taste of the rich Jewish culture and history embedded in Rome.”
